17 March ’09 – SERIOUSLY FED UP
Concert is coming very soon and everyone is panicking. I AM TOO. This blog post is NOT DIRECTED AT ANYONE, it’s purely my opinion alright? I am trying very hard to amend this post so that I am not putting any blame on ANYONE.

Seriously, I am very STRESS OUT NOW. With tons of SMSes coming in. “Huimin, can you come…”. I know that my section is a little last minute, but this is a result of not enough percussion members, therefore, we have to result in inviting others to help perform. My members do not only have to help this CO. They do have commitments outside too. They are not my dogs waiting for my calls 24/7 whereby I can ask them come, and go anytime.

Performance is coming soon and I know that none of the sections would want to embarrass themselves on stage. WHO DOESN’T? My section too. However, if anyone noticed, if we go for every sectionals, we will be in school practically EVERYDAY. My members do not have the whole week so free with only CO as the only commitment. BESIDES, guest players offer their help and you want them to be here every day? Paying their own TRANSPORTATION FEES? I understand that if possible; try to have all my members present for practices. But seriously, who will go to school EVERYDAY during a holiday? So, do be reasonable with your requests, you see. Maybe my job is to ask them to come for practices but, no guarantee that they will come. I can’t hold a knife at their throat and force them to come. Moreover, some of the requests do clash with each other. I can’t possibly split my body up so that you guys can practice right?

However, I do want to address the concern of coming for practices. We are serious in performing well for this concert. But I would like everyone to understand that coming for CO everyday kills OK? Well, maybe people will say” You are having holidays, so never mind la. Stay at home also do nothing” YES. STAY AT HOME AND DO NOTHING. That’s my style spending holidays. My holidays are for me to rest. But now I'm going for CO every day? IT’S NOT HOLIDAYS.

Ok. I think that I got somehow emotional now. COOL DOWN!!! Again, I would like to highlight that I am not blaming anyone, but myself for choosing such a section. And I’m just giving my own opinions. If anyone doesn’t like it, feel free to just close this window.

Ok main point! MY SECTION WILL BE IN SCHOOL ON THURS, AND FRI. Do contact me if your section will want to practice with us. THIS IS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. PRIORITY GIVEN TO HU QIN AND CELLO BASS since Wed is for pluck strings and woodwind section.

BTW, PLS INFORM ME OF THE INSTRUMENTS NEEDED, because all my members are specialized in something, NOT EVERY SINGLE PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT. Percussion section comprises of all instruments that require “hitting” and there are constantly new instruments coming in. so, it’s difficult to arrange people if you just tell me how many people without telling me the instruments. For me, I suck in anything that is arranged in the keyboard arrangement, unless you give me 2 months to figure out the score. Xylophone for example.
